In 2012, Turlock Christian High School became the first private school in California to earn a National FFA Charter. The school started with just 31 members and 2 Agriculture Education classes in 2012, and has now grown to 102 members (57% of the school!) and a full pathway of 5 Agriculture Education classes, many of which are UC Approved courses that are perfect for the college-bound student! We’ve even hired a part-time FFA Advisor, Tim Truax, to help with all of the extracurricular activities such as speech competitions, judging teams and projects at the fair. With his help, the 2016-2017 school year is looking to be the biggest, most involved year yet!
Our officer team has planned out a busy, productive year for FFA members this year, including industry tours, a Top-20 trip for the most active members at the end of the year, and our first-ever Greenhand Initiation Week to welcome our first year members. We are all truly excited for this to be our best year yet as more members participate in speech competitions, learn important industry information through competing on agriculture judging teams, and learn crucial life skills through their own agriculture projects. Read below for a special introduction from our chapter President, Anna Cederlind about what the officer team has planned for our members this year!
2016-2017 Theme Verse
Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.
