Art is designed to enable students to develop and master an appreciation for drawing and painting through learned techniques.
Art utilizes an inductive study approach of observation, interpretation, and application which will help the student feel confident with their drawing and painting skills. Students will analyze images they see, comprehend spatial and proportional concepts, and develop individual style and creativity.
Part of the second semester is devoted to the preparation, research, and writing of a major term paper on events that make the history of art, and to the scholarly discipline that deals with these events.

To HS Drama
High School Drama is offered as a U.C. Certified, Performing Arts elective. The course teaches beginning through advanced elements of live theatre and video/film acting and also includes experiences in costuming and makeup, as well as backstage management and some technical elements.
Students are taught the elements of Dramatic Performance by utilizing lecture, example, critique (by instructor, peers, and video), rehearsal, and performance direction.
The students in this class prepare and perform two full-length, major productions each school year (Christmas and Spring). School-wide auditions are not used to cast our productions, but rather, each show is cast with whichever students choose to take the class that year, and every attempt is made to give a role to all students in the class. Scripts are selectd to fit the makeup of each year's class.
